Condominium societies take innovative steps to tackle deadly Gurugram air
Gurugram: For three days in a row, air quality level in Gurugram is at severe levels with the average air quality index breaching the 400 micrograms per cubic meter mark. The deadly air conditions prevailing in the city forced even the Haryana Government to declare holidays for government and private schools till November 5 on Sunday.
To get a sense of how terrible the situation in National Capital Region is that even at a mark of over 400, Gurugram is still considered to be among the least polluted in the area. With situation going dire by the day, the residents of Gurugram are now undertaking steps to make sure that the the health of their and their loved ones remain secure.
On Sunday, the residents of Mapsko Casabella society contracted the few men for water sprinkling through hose pipes in their society. There are now plans for these forms of initiatives to be also undertaken in other residential societies. Moreover, in order to reduce the traffic load on the city roads, most of the residents are also planning to have carpooling days.
It is important to note that even as the National Capital is planning its third odd-even for vehicle movement, Gurugram has not been able to implement even one.
This is not for the first time when citizens have taken a proactive step in the environmental matters of the city. In what can be considered in the first, of its initive, the residents of Gurugram invented Raahgiri in which two hours of every Sunday in a prominent street of the city were only reserved for walkers.
