Clue provided by young girl helps to arrest her predator

New Delhi: A clue provided by a nine-year-old girl along with police effort led to the arrest of her predator from Vasant Kunj area of south west Delhi. Police claimed that the accused is a rag picker who might have abducted another girl but her mother saved her by alerting other people. The victim's father claimed that his daughter is still not well after the incident.

On Wednesday, the 9-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in South West Delhi's Vasant Kunj area. Police suspect that the girl went to relieve herself when she was abducted and assaulted by the accused in an isolated place nearby Rangapahari area.

Police claimed that the girl told them that the accused is a bad man and had a dark complexion. His height was described to be little more than her father. The following clues were briefed to all staffs on which they started working eventually leading to the arrest.

"The accused confessed his crime of assaulting the girl and then fled the spot," said the officer, adding that he is very incoherent. Aged around 34 years, he is a vagabond and who do not have a family.

"We informed six to seven jhuggi camps about the description of the accused and on Thursday afternoon, a PCR call was received. The team reached the spot and found that public had held a person," said the police officer.

Further investigations revealed that when the residents found the person with the same description and asked him to stop, he tried to flee but was nabbed by them.

When interrogated, the accused tried to mislead the police officers. Later it was found that there was another PCR call that complained about a man who tried to kidnap a girl but his bid was foiled by a relative.

"Her mother was called and after seeing the accused, she identified him to be the same person who tried to kidnap her daughter," the police added. Upon further questioning, the accused confessed to the crime.
