City on high alert as cops fear terror strike before MCD polls

In a major development in the run up to the Municipal elections, Delhi Police have received secret input that explosives could be transferred in Delhi for a major terror strike.

The borders of Delhi are undergoing thorough inspection after the information has dropped in. After the input alert, Delhi Police have intensified checking of vehicles, especially those coming from Uttar Pradesh.
The intelligence input claimed that the explosive would be transferred from Uttar Pradesh. The consignment of explosives is claimed to come from Ghaziabad.

"We have inputs that there are three vehicles in which explosives would be coming to the Capital. Our intelligence confirmed that terrorists are planning to strike Delhi," said Ravinder Yadav, Joint CP, Eastern Range. Several police teams have been deployed in the Capital and intense checking, especially in areas adjoinging western Uttar Pradesh, is taking place.

Areas like Welcome and Seelampur in the North East district are on high alert and senior police officers are themselves undertaking patrolling in the areas under their jurisdiction.
Cops were seen at various police pickets searching for three explosive-laden vehicles, based on the specific input.

Police are, however, yet to find any trace of the perpetrators who could try to sneak into Delhi from Uttar Pradesh.

The information has put the entire police department on its toes as the Capital is also gearing up for the Municipal elections scheduled for next month. The city has been witnessing a charged atmosphere, with increased political activity. Several senior politicians have also been going on rallies at various places in Delhi, which has made the intelligence input even more vital for the cops.
