Foreigner creates ruckus over ‘free stay’, injures self
New Delhi: A Turkmenistan national was admitted to a hospital after he cut himself with a knife outside a hotel in an inebriated state in central Delhi’s Paharganj, police said on Thursday. The incident took place outside White Glow Hotel, where the man, Jeyhun, had stayed between January 20 and February 10 this year, they said. On February 11, Jeyhun returned to the hotel in an unstable condition, allegedly due to being under the influence of an intoxicating substance. He demanded accommodation despite claiming that he had no money, the police said. The hotel staff told him that no rooms were available, following which he became agitated, and used a knife in his possession to inflict injuries on his throat, they said. The hotel management alerted the local beat police, but by the time they intervened, Jeyhun had already suffered significant blood loss. Jeyhun was rushed to Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC) Hospital where he was admitted for emergency treatment. A medical examination confirmed that he was heavily intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Property dealer jumps to death, wife consumes poison after dispute
New Delhi: A 35-year-old property dealer allegedly died by suicide after jumping off the roof of his house and his wife consumed a poisonous substance following a heated argument between them, police said on Thursday. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in a four-storey building in Delhi’s Harsh Vihar, where Mukesh and his wife Savita (32) lived on the first floor with their two children, a son (10) and a daughter (5), they said. “Around 2 pm, family members heard a loud thud and rushed outside, where they found Mukesh lying unconscious on the street. At nearly the same time, Savita was found unconscious inside her room,” the officer said. He said that the door was locked from the inside. She was brought out after the family members entered through a window. The police said the couple had a heated argument shortly before the incident.
