Home guard dies after pickup van hits Delhi Police car

New Delhi: A 41-year-old home guard was killed when a pickup van rammed into a Delhi Police vehicle in Dwarka’s Baba Haridas Nagar, police said on Tuesday. On the intervening night of October 22 and 23, assistant sub-inspector Mahesh Kumar and Home Guard Dharampal were on patrolling duty in the area in a PCR van, they said. On the Najafgarh-Bahadurgarh Road, a pickup van hit their vehicle leaving both of them injured, they said. “The duo was taken to a hospital where Dharampal was declared brought dead while Mahesh was discharged after treatment,” an official said. A case under sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code was registered and the driver of the offending vehicle, Jai Lal (23), was arrested, police said.

Water supply to be affected

New Delhi: Water supply will be affected in some areas of the national Capital on Thursday and Friday due to interconnection work. ‘Due to interconnection work of 100 mm dia West Delhi main at Shakurpur, Najafgarh Drain and Opposite ESI-Basaidarapur Metro Station the water supply in the following colonies/areas will not be available/available at the low pressure in the morning of 26.10.2023 and evening of 27.10.2023,’ a DJB statement said. DJB advised the residents to store sufficient quantity of water in advance.

Burglars cut ATM in Delhi’s Palam, steal cash, say cops

New Delhi: A group of burglars stole at least Rs 21 lakh after cutting a Punjab National Bank ATM in southwest Delhi’s Palam, police said on Monday. They said they received a PCR call around 4.40 am about tampering with the PNB’s ATM installed at Manglapuri. On inquiry, it was found that the burglars came in a vehicle and cut the ATM and stole about Rs 21 lakh. The Delhi Police has registered a case under section 380 (theft in a building) and 457 (house trespass) of the Indian Penal Code at the Palam Village police station.

Robbers in Gurugram drive away with auto at knife point

Gurugram: Three people robbed a man of his auto at knife point in DLF Phase 2 area, police said on Monday. Noor Jamal Haq in his complaint said he was robbed late Sunday night by the men who got into his auto as passengers. The Assam native said he was near a liquor vend in Cyber City around 11.40 pm when three men booked his auto to go to IFFCO Chowk and agreed to pay him Rs 150 in fare. “On the way, one of them asked me to stop auto near the Airtel building because he wanted to urinate. When I did, one of them showed me a knife and another kicked me. They then rode away in my auto leaving me on a roadside,” Haq said in his complaint.

Trio stab man to death after argument in Ghaziabad, held

Ghaziabad: A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death by three men after an altercation in Naseeb colony here, police said on Tuesday. On Monday night, victim Jitendra had a heated argument with Vicky, Golu and Karan over some issue following which the trio stabbed him, they said. The victim was rushed to a hospital by his family members with the help of locals. Jitendra died during treatment on Tuesday. An FIR has been lodged against the three accused, who have been detained for interrogation, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Upadhyay said.
