CISF nabs person with Rs 50 lakh
New Delhi: A 19-year-old man was caught by CISF personnel at a Delhi Metro station for allegedly carrying Rs 50 lakh cash on behalf of a Gujarat-based transport operator on Saturday.
According to CISF as there were no documents and valid reasons for carrying the cash, the case and money has been transferred to the Income Tax Department for further probe
According to CISF, on Thursday, a passenger-carrying bag came at the security point of Barakhamba Metro Station.
During x-ray screening of his bag, CISF personnel noticed a suspicious image inside the bag. The bag was selected for a thorough and physical check. Rs 50 lakh cash-- in denominations of Rs 500, Rs 200 and Rs 100--was recovered from the bag of the man by CISF personnel and as the commuter could not explain reasons for carrying such huge cash.
The passenger was identified as Thakur Dilip, a native of Gujarat.
On inquiry, he revealed that he was carrying the cash to Chandni Chowk in North Delhi. His Manager one Jalpesh Kumap Babulal Patel (32) also reached the metro station and disclosed that he is the business of transport commission and transfers cash on the instruction of his employer Dhruv Bhai Pol native of Gujarat.
"Rs 50 lakh was also being transferred to Chandni Chowk, Delhi on the instructions of his employer. They could not produce any valid document for carrying such a high volume of cash," said CISF official.
Delhi Metro Rail Police, Yamuna Bank Depot and Income Tax officials were also informed.
