CISF detects 56 kg Agarwood from 2 passengers at IGIA

New Delhi: CISF detected 56 kg Agarwood from two passengers at IGI Airport on October 26. According to CISF, on profiling basis, CISF surveillance and intelligence personnel of IGI Airport selected a passenger for thorough checking in check-in area of Terminal-3. He was diverted to random checking point for thorough checking of his luggage.

On X-BIS screening of his trolley bag it was found filled with small wooden pieces which were wrapped in polyethene cover. On physical checking, Agarwood chips weighing nearly 30 kg were found inside the bags. The passenger was later identified as Mohammad Abdul Hakim (31). He was going by flight to Riyadh.

During the enquiry, the passenger could not produce any documents for carrying the wood.

"On enquiry, the passenger revealed about his co-passenger identified as Shamsun Islam Patwary who was also carrying Agarwood in his registered baggage. The matter was informed to Custom officials. The passenger was later intercepted in pre-Security Hold Area (SHA) area after immigration," CISF said in their press statement.

On questioning, Shamsun Islam Patwary also admitted of carrying similar wood in his registered bag.

His registered baggage was brought at check-in area and on checking "Agarwood" chips weighing approx 26 kg was detected.
