Chinese national tears, dumps Indian flag; colleagues protest

Mobile manufacturing company 'Oppo' has landed in unexpected controversy on Tuesday after a Chinese employee at Noida Sector 63 unit of Oppo India allegedly tore the Indian National flag apart and dumped it in trash.

The ruckus erupted outside the building when other Indian employees of the company along with residents of the area and activists from the Vishva Hindu Parishad protested against the disrespect of the Indian national flag.

Following the complaint from the employees of the company, a case of disrespecting the national flag has been registered against the Chinese employee.
Hundreds of police personnel were deployed to bring the situation under control. The Chinese national works
as a production manager in the company.

"A case disrespecting the national flag has been registered in Noida Phase-3 police station. Arrest will be made after the allegation against the accused comes out" said senior police official.

The mobile manufacturing company also came under the 'anti-national' scanner. "It's quiet unnatural on the part of the company where over 99 percent employees are Indian. We deeply regret this unfortunate incident. We will take strict actions against the accused, once found guilty" said a senior official from Oppo India.

The workers claimed that a Chinese national had torn the national flag and thrown it in the dustbin. The crowd turned violent and the situation went out of control when
they demanded the arrest of the Chinese employee. The residents from nearby areas also rushed to the spot and supported the protest.

"We are trying to make all possible efforts to bring the situations under control. As the incident is highly sensitive, we have insisted the officials of the company to intervene and talk with the workers. The situation was brought under control and both the parties came to a peaceful conclusion. Further investigations are on and we will probe into the CCTV footage to reveal the actual culprit" said City Magistrate, Ramanuj Singh.
