CBI arrests own official for illegal acitivities

NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested its own Assistant Programmer and a private person in a case relating to development and sale of illegal software being used for rail ticket booking. They have been amassed huge wealth by using this software illegally, official sources said here on Wednesday.
A case has been registered against an Assistant Programmer, CBI, New Delhi and others on the allegations of criminal conspiracy, computer related offences for unauthorised access and damage to computer and computer system, unauthorised carrying on of business of procuring and supplying of railway tickets and criminal misconduct, it said.
The public servant had earlier worked in Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) during 2007 to 2011. "It was alleged that the accused had developed one illicit software for duping the Tatkal ticket booking system being run by IRCTC and conspired with a private person whereby they were indulging in distributing the said software to private persons for their unauthorised use for a hefty consideration. Use of such software is illegal as per rules and regulations of IRCTC and also under the Railways Act." said an official.
It was also alleged that the accused was collecting money for the use of such software by certain booking agents.
