Car goes up in flames at Akshardham flyover

NEW DELHI: A Tata Indigo car caught fire at Akshardham Flyover near Samachar apartment on Wednesday afternoon. The driver of the car had a miraculous escape as he managed to get out of the burning car just in time.

Soon, the passerby gave a call to the fire department after which the fire tenders rushed to the spot.

"We received a call at around 1:45 pm that a car has caught fire at Akshardham flyover. Soon, our fire brigades were dispatched to the spot. We managed to control the fire soon and no casualty was reported," said a senior fire officer.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and the traffic was affected for a brief time since the fire brigade was carrying out its operation.

Earlier this month, a man was charred to death in his car while two other occupants received minor burns after their car rammed a divider and caught fire on Yamuna Expressway near Delhi.

In July this year, two men had a narrow escape after the car in which they were travelling in suddenly caught fire and went up in flames at mehrauli-Badarpur road in

Saket.
