Car driver held for running over two street vendors
Gurugram: A day after the horrific car crash that claimed the lives of two street vendors, the Gurugram police has arrested a person identified as Amit who was believed to be driving the Ranger Rover.
The 31-year-old is a resident of Begum Pur Khatola and owns a gymnasium in the area. He will produce in the court on Wednesday where the law enforcement officials will seek his custody.
"As of now, we have made only one arrest in the case. We are interrogating seeking detail of who all were involved in this horrific accident," said a senior official from Gururgam police.
Two persons aged who were in their teens died as they were hit by an overspeeding Red Range Rover (Discovery) at Rajendra Chowk in Golf Course Extention on Sunday night.
The deceased who have been identified as Mordhaj Yadav (19) and his nephew Anil Yadav (14)worked as street vendors who used to sell "Gol gappas". The driver of the landrover fled from the spot. The accused, who hasn't been identified yet fled the spot leaving his vehicle behind right after the incident.
The victims ran a Gol Gappa stall near the chowk and lived in Tikri village tenants. The incident happened on Sunday night at 10.35pm when the victims were wrapping up their daily business and returning home. The impact of this crash could be gauged from the fact that both the airbags of the Range Rover came out, a facility that may have proved valuable in saving the driver's
life.
