CAIT calls on Puri, seeks notification on amended MPD

New Delhi: A delegation of a traders body on Thursday called on Union minister Hardeep Puri and urged him to "notify the amendments" proposed in the Master Plan of Delhi 2021 which were approved by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).

The delegation of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) led by its secretary Praveen Khandelwal also thanked Lieutenant Governor and DDA chairman Anil Baijal who approved the amendments on June 19.

The amendments seek to provide relief to traders from an ongoing sealing drive by bringing uniform floor area ratio (FAR) for shop-cum-residence plots and complexes at par with residential plots.

Several shops in many parts of Delhi are lying sealed after facing action on the directions of a Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee for failing to deposit conversion charges according to Master Plan 2021.

"The CAIT urged Union Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri to notify the amendments so that properties lying sealed could be desealed," the CAIT said in a statement.

Puri sought voluntary cooperation and support of trade associations in achieving cleanliness in Delhi, it said.
