Bus mows down 10-yr-old in Chanakyapuri, driver held

NEW DELHI: A school bus mowed down a 10-year-old boy, killing him on the spot, while injuring another 12-year-old in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri on Friday evening.
Police said on Saturday they have arrested the bus driver, identified as Ramesh Pal, who works for the British School located in the same area.
The incident was reported after the school bus was backing and could not spot the two children playing behind it and accidently came under the wheels.
Immediately, locals from the nearby slum gathered and demanded action against the accused driver, who fled from the spot. He was arrested later by cops.
Sources said the boys, both resident of a slum in Chanakyapuri, were playing on the footpath, with the bus parked nearby.
While 10-year-old Rahul died on the spot, the injured boy Jagdish was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition is said to be critical.
Police said that a case has been registered under appropriate sections.
