Bus driver held for mowing down two in Vivek Vihar
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested the driver of a private bus who had mowed down two Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees in Shahdara district's Vivek Vihar on Monday.
Cops said the accused Nooruddin was arrested after they launched a manhunt to nab him after he had fled the accident spot at Indraprastha red light.
"With the help of surveillance, he was arrested from Khora village near Delhi-Ghaziabad border, hiding at his friend's rented flat. His interrogation is on," said a senior police officer.
Noorusddin, 33, is a resident of Hamdard Nagar in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh district.
"A case is registered against him under sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code," said Meghna Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara).
On Monday, DTC employees Satish Kumar and Rupender Kumar were crushed to death after they were sandwiched between a private bus – driven by Nooruddin – and an auto after their bike was hit by the bus in Delhi's Vivek Vihar.
The two men were on a motorcycle and could not move out of harm's way as they were standing at a red light at Indraprastha crossing.
Passersby had immediately taken the two men were taken to nearby GTB Hospital, but both succumbed to their injuries.
