Burglar re-arrested

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police has re-arrested a serial burglar identified as Sahib alias Sabu, who has committed many burglaries in Trans-Yamuna area. Sahib was in judicial custody in a theft case of Krishna Nagar. Upon his production in court, Sahib escaped and a case under relevant sections was registered at Farsh Bazar on 20 July 2018.

In February 2018, a tip-off was received by the police team of Geeta colony regarding a desperate burglar operating in Trans Yamuna area. For developing the information and further action, a special police team was constituted. It was learned that Mumbai Police was also on his look-out in a case. The Delhi Police arrested him on February 22 this year.

During sustained interrogation, he had disclosed his involvement in several instances and he was arrested in the relevant cases. 37 mobile phones, six laptops, five wrist watches, three CCTV cameras, eight pairs of gold ear-rings, five gold rings, 10 pair gold bangles, one mangal sutra, five gold chains, three silver utensils, 10 Silver Coins, two pairs silver pajeb, one CPU, one monitor along with housebreaking tools had been recovered from him at that time.

"The team conducted several raids at Geeta Colony, Khureji Khas, Jagat Puri,

Mumbai, Bijnor and Haridwar to nab Sahib. The accused was finally apprehended at Rani Garden, Geeta Colony. At the time of apprehension, he was found riding a stolen motorcycle. He was previously involved in 37 cases of theft and burglary," said Meghna Yadav, DCP Shahdara.
