Burari: Cops feel Tillu gang will hit back hard

New Delhi: More than 100 people have been questioned by the Special Cell of Delhi Police in connection with the shootout between the gangs of Jitender Gogi and Sunil Tillu gangs in Burari's Sant Nagar which left four person dead and four others injured.

Fearing retaliation by the Tillu gang, the cops have deployed their resources to avert any revenge killings in the national Capital and arrest all the accused involved as soon as possible.

Raids are being conducted and criminals from both the gangs are kept under vigil.

Cops are also trying to figure out how many active members of Gogi gang are missing and matching their description with the CCTV footage of the assailants involved in the attack.

Delhi police special cell has sent teams to various hideouts of the criminals in several villages in Delhi and Haryana.

"Our teams have raided several villages in the bordering areas of Delhi and Haryana including village Naya Baans in Shahpur Jaat and Manauti," said a senior police official.

"Several people have been questioned in connection with the murders. The latest round of gang war is basically a fallout of a murder that took place in 2015 when Deepak alias Raju was gunned down by Gogi for having an affair with his cousin.

"Since Pawan, the brother of the deceased Mukul, had been pursuing the murder case actively, we suspect Gogi planned to eliminate him," said the officer.

Though the assailants could not find Pawan, they instead gunned down his brother Mukul along with Hemchand who were caught off guard by the attackers just when they headed towards the SUV from the gym.

According to the cops, at least four men were caught by the CCTV cameras shooting indiscriminately.

According to police, two men who sustained injuries in the attack Jitender and Surender are undergoing treatment at a hospital in north west Delhi.

"We have made elaborate security arrangement for the safety of the men admitted in the hospital as a precautionary measure," said a senior police officer.

Two others, Vashisht and Santosh, are also admitted to another hospital and are undergoing treatment. Both are common people caught accidentally in the shootout.

Vashisht is an economics teacher working in a coaching institute, while Santosh holds an administrative post in a coaching institute in Mukherjee Nagar. All four injured persons are reported to be out of danger.
