B.Tech student of Galgotias University commits suicide

Greater Noida: A 22-years-old student of B.tech fourth year of Galgotias University in Greater Noida allegedly committed suicide by jumping off the eighth floor of a high rise residential society in pi-1 sector of Greater Noida on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Police officials said that the victim took extreme step under mental depression.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Neeraj Kumar Bharti, a native of Dhanbad district in Jharkhand. Kumar stayed at a rented three bed room flat at first floor in Hindustan Petroleum Housing society (HPHS) society in sector pi-I along with his five other friends.

Ajay Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO) of Kasna police station said that the incident occurred around 3 am on Monday.

"We had received the information through a PCR call and a team rushed to the spot. The victim was found lying in a pool of blood on the ground floor and we took him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival," said Kumar.

The officer further said that the student took extreme step as he was depressed over something.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the student committed suicide under mental depression. We are questioning his friends to find out the reason which forced him to take such an extreme step. We have informed the family while the body has been taken under police custody. As of now, we have not received any complaint into the matter, however, further investigations are underway," added Kumar.
