BTech graduate held in Ggn for posing as judge, duping several

Gurugram: A BTech graduate from Hyderabad, who posed as a civil judge posted in Gurugram and duped over three dozen people on the pretext of helping them to get cheap flats and jobs, was arrested on Monday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Shamsher Singh said the accused Kedarnath Sagar, who went by 'Judge Sagar', was arrested from Sector-12, where he was living in a rented accommodation for six months.

"The accused used to tell people that he was posted in Gurugram on deputation as a civil judge and promised to get them economically weaker section category flats and jobs in public and government sectors," the officer said.

According to police, he mainly targeted women and charged Rs three to five lakh against each flat he promised; but nothing was ever allotted.

"He duped nearly 40 persons and used to normally track his victims outside the premises of district court, where he convinced his victims through various offers. He used the pretext of his senior title to convince people of getting their job done quickly," Singh said.

It may be noted that the civil courts and the district courts are in close proximity.

Sagar was arrested on a complaint by Gagan Batra, whose relative was duped of Rs four lakh for a flat in upcoming Sector-102 along Dwarka Expressway. The accused prepared fake identity cards of a judge and other necessary documents related to his alleged posting.

A court remanded Sagar to seven days in police custody.
