Boy commits suicide after girlfriend threatens him

Kolkata: In a tragic incident, a youth from South 24-Parganas' Sonarpur committed suicide by jumping in front running a train.

Police said the victim Sourav Ghosh, a resident of Sonarpur, jumped in front of a running train at Hridaypur station in North 24-Parganas on July 19.

He was taken to a private nursing home in the city with critical injuries. He succumbed to his injuries in the hospital on July 21. It was also learnt that the victim took this drastic step after his girlfriend threatened to show some of their intimate photographs to police.

Initially, the girl allegedly used to collect money after blackmailing him. The victim had a relationship with the girl for past few months.

The couple captured some photographs and videos of their personal moments.

She used to threaten him by saying that she would report the matter to his family members if he does not give her money.

As he refused to pay, the girl allegedly maligned the victim by uploading some of their photographs

on social media.

The victim was embarrassed and disturbed mentally and finally decided to end his life.

He came all the way to Hridaypur in North 24-Parganas from Sonarpur and threw himself before a running train.

He has, however, recorded a video on his mobile phone narrating the entire incident.

Police are examining the mobile phone of the victim.

The family members of the victim later lodged a complaint against the girl.

Police have started a detailed probe in this connection.
