BJP woman leader, her son shot at
New Delhi: A 60-year-old BJP Mahila Morcha leader and her 35 year old son received gunshot injuries in Delhi on Friday when a relative allegedly opened fire at them.
The incident took place on Friday morning around 6:30 am at Delhi Kanjhawala's Jaunti village area.
While Rajrani was hit by a bullet in her leg, her son received injuries on his hand and stomach. Both of them underwent surgeries.
"Both victims are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Rohini. While the mother is stable, her son is in a critical condition. The perpetrator was a relative and attacked them due to a property dispute." DCP Rohini, SD Mishra, said.
According to police, personal enmity over some property-related matter may have led to the attack. Relatives say that the dispute is over 250 gaj plot in Kanjhawala for which the assailants also lay a claim.
"The attackers came in a Scorpio early morning and then shot my mother in law. We have been receiving threats for a long time and we have also informed the same to the local police station. The accused has a shady past and has been involved in many criminal activities too," said Jyoti, daughter in law of Rajrani.
"I received a phone call about the firing and immediately rushed to their house. I saw that both mother and son were badly injured and had bullet wounds. I rushed them immediately to the hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. We had told about the threat to the police earlier too," said another relative.
Police has started a hunt for the accused who is on the run.
