BJP will end free bus ride scheme if voted to power, AAP reacts to Puri

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) Delhi election in-charge Sanjay Singh responded to the statement made by BJP's leader Hardeep Singh Puri where he opposed CM Kejriwal's free bus rides scheme for women and stated that BJP is in favour of terminating it. Singh said that this statement from Puri makes it clear that if the BJP comes to power, they will put an end to the free bus rides scheme in Delhi.

Singh said that this is not the first time that BJP has taken an anti-women stance. BJP's CM in Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar, believes that women shouldn't wear jeans and should stay behind veils. On the other hand, the CM in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, had said that women are incapable of defending themselves. From the beginning to end of their lives, women need to stay dependent on men. The party that keeps shouting "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" should know that its senior leaders hold despicable views on women, added the AAP leader.

Singh also said that the ridership of women in buses has risen by 12%. This shows that Delhi's women are now feeling safe, they feel relieved from the continuous pressure of rising prices and shrinking budgets, and that they have whole-heartedly welcomed the initiative. However, Puri is adamant that the scheme needs to go, added Singh.
