BJP rally deferred as Councillors unhappy with ticket cuts: AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party has said that the Delhi BJP's decision to cut tickets of all sitting Councillors has backfired and did not go down well with the Councillors – who hold or control most organisational positions within the party, such as district presidents etc.

This, AAP claimed, is the main reason that BJP postponed its mega convention rally scheduled to be held at Ramlila Maidan on Sunday.

AAP Delhi in charge Ashish Talwar said that reports from the ground level suggest that non-cooperation by sulking councillors led to the cancellation of the convention, where booth-level BJP workers were to be addressed by the party chief Amit Shah.

"If true, it only accentuates what we have known for months. The present Delhi BJP is in no state to mount a worthy challenge in the upcoming the MCD Polls," Talwar said.

He further added that even the leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta is said to be sulking with his own wife's ticket
Delhi BJP is yet to issue a list of fresh candidates for the Municipal polls, while AAP declared the names of 248 out of 272 candidates a couple of weeks ago.

AAP has long been eyeing the Poorvanchali residents to bag more voters.

It has also fielded a large number of women and youth candidates by allotting 100 seats to women and 64 to young candidates.
The nomination process will begin from March 27 and April 3 would be the last date for filing nominations.

The scrutiny of nominations will take place on April 5 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination is April 8.

The Municipal Corporation polls will be held on April 22 and results will be declared on April 25.
