BJP MLAs walk out after Jain calls them 'blanket thieves'

New Delhi: The third day of the ongoing assembly session remained stormy like previous two days with BJP MLAs on Wednesday seeking demand for discussion on reported death of homeless people in the national Capital. As soon as the proceeding started, the BJP legislators, led by the leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, rushed to the well of the House seeking a discussion on the issue, but Speaker Ram Niwas Goel turned down the demand.
Gupta attracted attention of the Legislative Assembly to the tragic death of 44 dependents lying in the open during the first six days of January, in the bone-chilling winter of the night, in the capital. "The Kejriwal government is fully responsible for this. He regretted that due to the lack of shelter, millions of people are still forced to sleep in the open cold along the roads," Gupta said.
In a counter attack, AAP MLAs tried to shout down the BJP legislators by raising the issue of atrocities against Dalits and alleged foul play behind the death of special CBI judge B H Loya. Health Minister Satyendar Jain called the four BJP members in the assembly 'blanket thieves' here on Wednesday. Hearing his remark, the four legislators walked out.
The AAP leader made the remark while replying to LoP's demand for a government report into the death of 44 people allegedly due to cold in the city. "These people (from the BJP) distribute blankets at one end and collect it back at the other end (of the line)," Jain said, terming them 'blanket thieves.'
Earlier in the day, the BJP MLAs protested in front of the Speaker's podium with blankets, demanding an inquiry into the deaths. Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra, who was suspended from the AAP and removed as a minister last year, was marshalled out for the second consecutive day as he alleged 'financial dealings' behind AAP's Rajya Sabha choices.
