Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal levelled serious allegations against the Centre calling it a party of goons and emphasised that the Ramjas violence has got parents worried about their wards.
"The BJP and the ABVP are a party of goons and rowdies. Whoever opposes RSS or the BJP, they call them anti-national," said the AAP leader.
The Chief Minister also expressed his unhappiness over the death and rape threats against Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur, who had launched a social media campaign against the RSS' students' wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the wake of the February 22 clashes outside Ramjas College that left over a dozen injured.
"The way Gurmehar Kaur was attacked and given rape threats for opposing ABVP hooliganism, this is not good. And due to the current scenario in the universities and colleges, parents are worried about their children. The country will not tolerate this," he added. Few days earlier, the Chief Minister met Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal to demand stern action against ABVP volunteers allegedly involved in violence that followed the protests at Ramjas on February 22.
The CM said the LG has given assurances that proper probe in the violence will be done and also threats received by Kashmir martyr's daughter Gurmehar Kaur will be probed.
The violence came a day after the ABVP forced Ramjas College authorities to cancel a seminar. Later, when Gurmehar Kaur of Lady Shri Ram College launched a social media campaign against the RSS-affiliated ABVP, she received death and rape threats, triggering widespread condemnation.
