Bizman abduction bid foiled: 1 cop hurt during gun battle

Gururgam police arrested one of the gang members, identified as Anshul

Gurugram: Brazen incident of street crime again on display in Gururgam when three to four assailants fired gunshots at the police patrol party after their adduction bid of a businessman was foiled by the policemen.

The incident resulted in 47-year-old Jaiveer deputed on the post of special police official (SPO) sustaining three to four gun wounds in his stomach and neck.

He is admitted in a private hospital where the is said to be in a stable condition. On Sunday evening the Gururgam police achieved a major breakthrough when they arrested one of the gang members identified as Anshul who was involved in the crime.

The entire incident transpired at around 11:15 pm on Saturday night when a local businessman identified as Rahul Pahuja was moving in his Jaguar car.

All of a sudden he was forced to stop by three to four men who were travelling in Toyota Innova. They blocked Rahul's way and forcefully made him come out after one of the unidentified people brandished his gun at the businessman. They then forced him into the Innova.

Knowing that he was being Kidnapped Rahul began shouting for help which alerted the police patrolling party.

Understanding that they were being followed by the police patrolling party the kidnapers first tried to run away by speeding their SUV. However, realising that it was not proving to be fruitful they began firing gunshots at the policemen.

The exchange of gunshots resulted in 47-year-old Jaiveer sustaining severe injuries on his neck and stomach. Even though injured Jaiveer was critically injured he and his team ensured that not only did the criminals leave their vehicle but also could succeed in their attempt of kidnapping Rahul Pahuja.

Jaiveer who belong from Charkhi Dadri district of Haryana was working with Gurugram police for last two years. He is presently receiving treatment in a private multi-speciality hospital in Gurugram where his condition is said to be stable.

"It was a brave attempt by Jaiveer that prevented a major crime taking place. Leading from the front he received gun injuries on his neck and stomach. Even though the doctors have been removing bullets from his body, he is been kept under observation at present," said a senior police official from Gurugram police.

Incidents of encounter and criminals targetting Gurugram police in the act is not a new phenomenon. Recently a court pronounced six people ten-year-imprisonment after they were convicted of abducting a serving SHO of Sector 29 and robbing valuables from him.
