Biggest haul of stolen laptops in Delhi seized, 3 arrested

NEW DELHI: In the biggest ever seizure of stolen laptops in Delhi, 193 stolen laptops have been recovered by the team of Kalkaji, South-East District stored in an office at Nehru Place for resale purpose.

In two separate incidents, the staff of Kalkaji police station has arrested two persons identified as Pankhil Grover (27), Ishwar (22) for buying stolen laptops from thieves and recovered 192 laptops from their possession.

In another incident, a member of Gulel Gang idnetified as Saheb Ali (20), was arrested and a stolen laptop was recovered from his possession. With the arrest of accused persons, 22 cases of theft have been solved with their arrest.

On June 5, a complainant reported that someone has stolen his laptop bag containing his laptop and charger, power bank, driving license, wallet, debit and credit cards and other accessories from his car when it was parked at Krishna Market, Kalkaji by breaking his car's glass. The police immediately formed several teams to arrest the accused.

The thieves were noticed by police to be selling the stolen laptops over OLX site for with the same description.

"The advertisement was displayed from one office at Nehru place. The seller was contacted over the phone and negotiated to purchase laptop and rate was fixed. The police team sent a decoy customer and trap was laid. The team apprehended the accused Ishwar. The receiver was arrested too," said DCP Southeast Chinmoy Biswal.
