Bickering with dad's killers over money gets son caught
New Delhi: Three persons including the 37-year-old son of a businessman who gave Rs 5 lakh for getting his father killed were nabbed near Maljis Park area in Azad Pur on Sunday. Police claimed that the accused was unable to pay the loan he had taken while gambling, so he hatched the murder conspiracy.
The police identified the accused as Gaurav Khera (son), his friend Vishal Garg (23) and sharpshooter Sadiq. On May 21, father of the accused Anil Khera was gunned down by two assailants in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad when he came out of his factory after a business meeting. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ajit Kumar Singla stated that Gaurav had a habit of gambling and Satta and he had suffered substantial losses recently. Gaurav's father Anil Khera had slapped Gaurav and reprimanded him. Unable to repay his loans, the accused decided to eliminate his own father.
The investigators in Special Operation Squad (SOS) of Crime Branch interrogating Gaurav Khera, who gave his father's murder contract to sharpshooters, had no remorse. The accused told the policemen that he never liked his father. The investigating agency claimed that the case was cracked on bickering over money between the accused which led to the breach in their unholy bond.
Police sources told the Millennium Post that in recent months, the accused planned to kill his father and in the first attempt, he was gunned down. "The arguments between the father and the son was going on for past one year. Sometimes, the father slapped the Gaurav," said the sources. When asked whether the son had given the photograph of his father to the sharpshooters, police claimed that there is a possibility that the accused may have shown his father while he was home. Anil Khera, father of the accused, was murdered in May and after that the son started living happily.
For a few days, he went to a police station in UP to show fake concern about the killing. "The accused inherited the father's property and chemicals business. After the arrest, he did not have any remorse of the killing as Gaurav told us that he never liked his father," said the investigators.
The main reason behind the arguments between the accused and Anil was the unemployment and gambling activities of Gaurav. Additional CP (Crime) Ajit Kumar Singla claimed that the accused roped in Vishal Garg, his friend and together they hired Vishal's friends Shamsher and Sadiq to kill Anil Khera. Being the only son, Gaurav promised Vishal 25 per cent stake in the chemicals business that his father ran and which he would inherit once his father was no more. The killers demanded Rs 5 lakh for the job.
"After 4 days, Vishal and Gaurav paid the contract money of Rs 5 lakh to Shamsher. However, Shamsher gave only Rs 50,000 to Sadiq. Sadiq knew that Gaurav Khera was the victim's only son and was now the owner of the entire chemicals business run by his father," said Additional CP Singla. He began to pester and threaten Vishal and Gaurav for more money. This bickering over money led to breach in their unholy bond and the Crime Branch apprehended them when they came together to negotiate.
