Auto driver among 3 held

New Delhi: After almost 20 days of hunting, Delhi Police on Friday arrested three people including an auto-rickshaw driver for allegedly involved in a gangrape case that was reported in Delhi's Shalimar Bhag area last year.
On December 16, 2017, a 16-year-old girl was gangraped by three people, who have been running since the incident.
Police sources said at the time of the incident the girl was sitting in a park with her male friend when three accused came and started an argument with them and they were beaten up. The accused then allegedly raped the girl and also threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. The girl reported the incident to police after which the investigation was taken up. The girl lives in the slum and works as a maid in the area.
The three accused have been identified as Shiv Prasad alias Babua, 33, Arun Yadav, 36, and Kamlesh alias Baba, 28.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (north-west) Aslam Khan told Millennium Post that Prasad is an auto driver, whereas Arun is a distributor of pesticides and Rajesh is a school dropout. All of them live in the clusters of Shalimar Bagh area.
The officer further informed that the arrest was made from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. After the incident two accused had fled to different State in order to save themselves from arresting but due to police pressure they were arrested.
"Kamlesh was arrested from Varanasi whereas Shiv Prasad had fled to Jaunpur but he returned Delhi and the arrest was made," said the DCP. The other accused Arun was arrested from National Capital. Shiv Prasad was also involved in another rape case, he added.
