Atishi breaks down, calls out Ramesh Bidhuri’s derogatory attack on father

New Delhi: Chief Minister Atishi broke down in tears while addressing the media, condemning BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri’s derogatory remarks against her ailing 80-year-old father. Atishi questioned the ethics of political discourse in the country as she responded to the hateful comments aimed at her father.
With her voice trembling, Atishi said, “My father dedicated his entire life to teaching and shaping the futures of thousands of underprivileged children in Delhi. Today, at 80 years old, he is battling serious health issues and can barely walk or speak without support. Yet, for the sake of political gains, Ramesh Bidhuri Ji has stooped so low as to attack an elderly man. Is this what our politics has become?”
“How can anyone justify such indecency? Instead of discussing his work as a ten-year MP from South Delhi, he resorts to hurling abuse at a man who can’t even defend himself.”
Atishi challenged Bidhuri to debate based on their records, urging, “If he believes he has done better work than me as MLA, let him present that to the people. Why doesn’t he tell the people of Kalkaji what he has done for them during his tenure?”
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal also rallied behind Atishi, calling her an inspiration to women in Delhi. On social media, Kejriwal wrote, “Atishi ji, you are an inspiration for all the women of Delhi. By abusing you, BJP has not only insulted you but every woman of Delhi. Every woman of Delhi will give a befitting reply to BJP for this insult.”
In a separate statement, senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia expressed his solidarity with Atishi, writing, “Atishi ji, by abusing you, BJP has hurt the self-respect of every woman. Your insult is an insult to the entire women’s community, and the women of Delhi will definitely respond to this.”
Sanjay Singh, another AAP leader, condemned BJP’s endorsement of such behavior, emphasizing, “In BJP, training is provided to abuse others; they have chosen their CM candidate who insults female Chief Ministers.”
Singh highlighted the contrast between BJP’s values and AAP’s efforts for women’s safety, such as the Rs 2,100 allowance and free bus rides. He urged Delhi to choose between Ramesh Bidhuri, who insults women, and Kejriwal, who supports them. Singh also criticised Congress for remaining silent on the issue, suggesting alignment with BJP’s mindset. He concluded that the women of Delhi would not tolerate the BJP’s continued abuse and would respond in the upcoming elections.
