ASI suspended for shielding son in woman thrashing case

New Delhi: After the son of Delhi Police Assistant Sub Inspector was seen beating a woman brutally in a video, his father is now suspended during the investigation of the case.

Police on Monday claimed that they have questioned the father of the accused for more than three hours. The main accused in the case is Rohit Tomar, who was seen brutally thrashing a woman in a video that has gone viral and led to his arrest.

A senior police officer claimed that Rohit's father, Ashok Singh Tomar, who was posted as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), has been suspended. Sources claimed that he was questioned regarding the incident and also whether he tried to threaten the family of the girl who was beaten up brutally by his son.

There were reports that Ashok tried to threaten the victims family and also protect his son. "We asked more than a dozen questions to him in this regard and have called him on Tuesday again for further questioning," added the police source.

Earlier, the Delhi policeman's son was seen brutally thrashing a woman in a video that went viral. He was arrested on last Friday after being charged with rape and criminal intimidation in two separate cases. The arrest of Rohit Tomar, 21, took place hours after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted that the video has come to his notice and he has directed Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik to take necessary action in the matter. he person filming it could be heard asking Tomar to stop beating the woman but Tomar continued thrashing the woman and abusing her. He was even seen kicking the victim.

Later Ali Hasan (24) and Rajesh (30) were also arrested. Hasan is the owner of the call enter at Hastsal road where the video was filmed and the other accused was Rajesh who works as peon at the premises.
