Aqua Line Metro trial begins

Greater Noida: The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has finally started the much-awaited trials of new trains on the Aqua Line between Noida and Greater Noida on Tuesday.
NMRC Managing Director, Alok Tandon along with the Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), Mangoo Singh, flagged off the metro train for trails from Greater Noida depot.
According to NMRC officials, the initial trial has been started between Greater Noida depot and Knowledge Park-2 metro station.
However, the metro line is still awaited for an approval of connection from UPPCL for running the trains.
"The civic work on the Aqua metro line is almost completed and has received the rolling stock of first metro train. We will operate on an alternate electric connection for a week or two till we get a regular connection from UPPCL. We will make further high voltage tests after that. Testing will undergo during this period" said Alok Tandon, MD, NMRC.
"During these trials, the interface of the Metro train will be checked to ensure that there is no physical infringement with civil infrastructure during the movement of the train. Testing of various sub-systems of coaches will also be done" added Tandon.
According to NMRC officials, the response of the train at different speeds, its brake system and interconnection with the operations control centre (OCC) will also be monitored during the trials. The behavior of the track system and the over-head electrification (OHE) will be checked repeatedly.
"The trials are expected to go on for some months. Once the trials are over, the stretch is expected to be deemed ready for the commuters by the proposed deadline" said NMRC officials.
The total lengths of the Aqua Line from Greater Noida to Noida of 29.7 km with 21 stations are elevated ones. The estimated ridership of the line from Noida to Greater Noida is 1 lakhs 20 thousand commuters.
"The work on the metro track has been started at a record breaking pace.
We have put in efforts to prove it as a landmark in
onstructing the metro track
at such a pace" Tandon continued.
