Anti-climax: Suspected RDX content turns out to be nothing but chocolate

New Delhi: A bag which was believed to contain RDX was actually chocolate. On Friday, the security agencies were in a tizzy after an unattended black colour trolley bag, laying unattended at the arrival area of Terminal 3.

It was seen by a CISF personnel. Immediately, he informed the matter to his shift in-charge and other concerned. Immediately, EVD check of the same was carried out and found the positive signal of RDX inside the bag.

"The baggage was also checked by Dog 'Guide', which also gave a positive signal for explosive. Immediately, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) team were called and the area was Corden-off. Movements of vehicles and passengers were stopped," an official said.

BDDS team reached the location and acted as per Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). X-ray images of the said bag were taken by BDDS team, which were also not clear and found doubtful.

Subsequently, the baggage was safely taken to the cooling pit at the isolation area with the help of Threat Containment Vehicle (TCV).

Thereafter, complete search & sweeping of arrival area was conducted by CISF and after completion of the search, movement of passengers and vehicles started at 3.30 am.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (IGI) Sanjay Bhatia said that later the bag claimant approached IGIA police station. He claimed and identified his bag containing chocolate, earings, charger, clothes, toys.

"The bag contains the same article as claimed by him. He is the resident of Ballabhgarh and travelled back to Delhi from Mumbai via flight which landed at about 12.30 am on November 1," said DCP IGI.

Adding further, Bhatia said that he was accompanied by three more friends. He left the bag unintentionally. The passenger works in private company.
