Another blaze: 6-yr-old girl dies, over 200 slums gutted

New Delhi: A six-year-old girl's body was found beyond recognition and more than 100 people were rendered homeless after a fire erupted in over 200 clusters situated in Mansarowar area of Shahdara district. According to Delhi Fire Services (DFS), they received a call around 1.05 pm after which 16 fire tenders were rushed to the spot which took almost one hour to douse the fire. "We have found a charred body of six-year-old girl," claimed DFS official.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Nupur Prasad stated that as soon as they received the call, four station house officers of Farsh Bazaar, Shahdara , Seemapuri and MS Park rushed to the spot and they made sure that the situation remain in control. Two ACPs were also present at the spot and they made sure that the fire tenders get some route to reach the spot quickly. According to police personnel the reason behind the fire is investigated.
According to DFS, materials used in constructions of clusters are highly combustible and easily catch fire.
By the time, the affected JJ clusters could inform the fire brigade, hundreds of shanties were gutted because of the type of material used in their construction.
