Anaj Mandi fire: Police search for third accused
New Delhi: The Delhi Police continued to raid various parts of the city in order to arrest the third owner of the Anaj Mandi's building where 43 people died in the fire.
According to police, Imran, who is absconding, owned part of the property along with their brother-in-law Suhail who was arrested on Wednesday. It is being suspected that Imran had also rent out his part to various factory owners for running illegal units. "We are investigating the case from various angles," said a police officer, privy to the investigation.
The building's owner Rehan and his manager Furkan were arrested on Sunday after the incident. Police had said, during their interrogation, it was learnt that a portion of the building was owned by Rehan's brother-in-law Suhail. According to investigators, Suhail was questioned related to the year when he had rent out his building's portions to factory owners.
The evidence collected through 3D laser scan technology is being probed by the investigators. The evidence will help city police in creating a sequence of events happened on Sunday. During the investigation, it was found that the building owner had rented 18 portions in the four-storeyed factory. There were four power connections and illegal sub-meters were installed for tenants, an aspect which is being looked into, police said. The postmortems of all 43 bodies were completed.
