Noida: A first year engineering student of Amity university in Noida was found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his flat on Monday night. Cops said that no suicide note has been recovered from the spot while they suspect that the boy was under stress due to academics.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Utkarsh Shukla, a native of Rewa district in Madhya Pradesh. Cops said that Shukla lived at a rented flat in Amrapali Sapphire society in sector 45 of Noida along with two of his friends but was alone at flat at the time of incident.
"The body was first spotted by Shukla's friends who had came back to the flat in night at around 10.30 pm. As when they came back, they found the door locked from inside but when no one responded from inside they peeped inside the flat and felt something to be fishy. Immediately they informed the security guards of the society who broke down the door and found him hanging from a fan in his room," said Prashant Kapil, station house officer of sector 39 police station.
Police said that the matter was first reported to police by Shukla's flat mates.
"Victim's friends called up the police control room number and reported the matter. However, before a team could reach there, his flatmates took him to Jaypee hospital where he was declared brought dead. Afterwards, we informed his family members who came down to Noida on Tuesday" added Prashant Kapil.
Meanwhile, police said that no suicide note has been recovered from the spot while they suspect that the boy took extreme step to end his life under mental stress due to academics.
"Prima Facie it appears that Shukla was under some stress due to his academics which forced him to take the extreme step. However, we are trying to speak to family members and his friends to know the exact reason," the officer said.
