All-women police to conduct patrolling during admission in area outside university

New Delhi: Areas outside the Delhi University will witness an all-women patrolling team on duty for the safety of girls and to instil confidence among them so that they can freely report any problems they face. Police claimed that they will also hold meetings with DU officials regarding various issues including CCTV and proper access control inside the premises.
According to the police, the area surrounding the North Campus of Delhi University will be guarded by more than 40 women personnel who will be patrolling on motorcycles and PCR vans. "Girls from different states come to Delhi for taking admission so we want to make sure that they feel comfortable in Delhi and live without stress," said a police officer, adding that they have also identified some places where the police teams will be stationed. The girls can easily report the problems to the women police personnel.
The women police personnel will talk with girls about the safety and security measures and also about the Delhi Police Himmat Application which is meant for the security of the women and girls. Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Jatin Narwal told the Millennium Post that the police will hold meetings with the university officials regarding the safety and security of the students.
"The students' safety is our top priority. There are different issues on which we will talk to the university officials," said the DCP.
Police sources claimed that the main focus of the discussion will be CCTV installation and proper access control in the premises. The women police personnel will also get help from the male police personnel who will be deployed in plain clothes.
In the past, the police have received complaints of overcharging by the cyber cafes during the admission time. "Action will be taken as per law. We will also hold meetings with the cyber cafe owners," said the police official. The South Campus will also see a strict security mechanism during the admission.
