Alert Metro driver saves man who fainted on track

NEW DELHI: The alertness of a Delhi Metro driver saved the life of a 57-year-old man on Saturday, after he lost consciousness and fell on the tracks at the JLN Stadium Metro station. This affected the metro services for a brief time.

A senior Delhi Metro official said the incident took place at 8.44 am. The man, an officer in a government bank, sustained minor injuries and was admitted to AIIMS and later released, Delhi Police said.

"The man claimed he had lost consciousness after he felt dizzy," a police official said.

As he fell, the driver of the Metro saw him in time and applied emergency brakes.

Timely action of the alert driver saved the man's life, as the train stopped just in time. The man escaped with minor injuries on his hands and chest, and was released from hospital after being given first aid.
