After South East, Shahdara district completes digitisation of malkhanas
New Delhi: Delhi Police took a major leap in its mission of modernisation and digitisation, as it synchronised all e-malkhanas in police stations across Shahdara district. Commissioner Amulya Patnaik inaugurated the e-malkhana project at Seemapuri police station on Friday morning.
The digitisation of all case properties, their bar-coding, packaging as well as ordered arrangement in proper shelves is among the measures taken by Delhi Police towards achieving the objective of smart policing.
Shahdara has now become the second police district after South East to achieve complete digitisation of malkhanas in all ten of its police stations.
Proper arrangment of case properties has led to cleaning and clearing of police station premises, leading to more space and making the area presentable, people-friendly and welcoming.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said, "Maintenance of malkhanas has always been a priority to keep the case property in safe custody and its retrieval for presenting before the court, and back safely. After digitisation, it would be easy to retrieve the case property and would also save valuable time and energy."
He also commended Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Meghna Yadav as well as senior officers of the district for putting extra efforts in digitising such a vast number of case properties in a short span of time.
Patnaik also expressed the resolve of the police department to gradually achieve 100 per cent digitisation of malkhanas in all police stations across Delhi. He further assured local residents that with their help, Delhi Police will put in all efforts to make the district crime-free.
On August 3, Patnaik had inaugurated the e-malkhana project at South East district, at a programme held at Sarita Vihar police station complex.
All 13 police stations malkhanas in South East district are digitised, making it one of the first districts in the country to achieve this feat.
