After dance teacher rapes girl, his parents extort her

Ghaziabad: A 24-year-old dance teacher was arrested by Ghaziabad police for allegedly raping a minor girl student and blackmailing her after making an obscene video clip of her, said police on Wednesday.

Cops have also arrested the parents of the accused as they were found to be involved in blackmailing the victim and extorted her of lakhs of rupees.

According to police, the accused, identified as Rudra alias Sumit Ghosh, was arrested on Wednesday morning, following a complaint received on Tuesday from the victim's parents.

"The accused is a dance teacher and used to teach from his dance academy in Rajendra Nagar area of Sahibabad. The victim girl, about sixteen years old, used to learn dance at the academy until a few months ago. The accused teacher had raped her at the academy few days ago.

"He also recorded the act with his mobile phone and threatened the girl to upload it on social networking websites and started demanding money," said Rajesh Kumar, Circle Officer, Sahibabad.

Police said that after blackmailing the victim, the accused extorted her with lakhs of rupees.

However, despite getting the money, he kept on raping her for many days and his parents were complicit in blackmailing the girl.

Tired of the accused frequently demanding sexual favors and money, the girl finally revealed her ordeal to her neighbor's driver and who told her parents about the incident.

"The matter came to light when girl's parents were informed of the incident and the video clip by their neighbor's driver. They then informed police about the matter. On the basis of a complaint, an FIR was immediately registered and we started investigation. On Wednesday morning, a raid was conducted and the accused was arrested from his residence" added Kumar.

He added that Ghosh has been charged under section 376 of the IPC as well as under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
