Gurugram: A sex racket busted by Gurugram police last Sunday has resulted a shocking revelation by the law enforcement officials.
Among the 12 women who were arrested, one has been found of Afghan origin.
Shockingly, the woman was also found to be in possession of an Aadhaar card, which mentioned her to be a Delhi resident. Even though she claimed that she is an Indian, the district officials do not believe her claims.
The Gurugram police have now written to Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and sent them the woman's details.
Meanwhile, cops are trying to ascertain the facts of how she was able to get an Aadhaar card. "Doubts about the woman's nationality will be cleared soon. If she is an Afghan national, a case under the Foreigners Act may be registered against her," said Inspector Vijay Kumar, SHO Sadar station.
The Gurugram police busted a sex racket that was functional in a guest house in Sector -39. Sixteen people including 12 girls and four boys were arrested.
This is not for the first time when such acts have been exposed in the city.
On December 10, the district police uncovered an illegal sex racket that was being run in a spa of a renowned mall in Sector-53. The officials had arrested six women, including two foreigners, and a man.
After a tip, the police on Saturday night raided the Auwa Thai spa centre in the Central Plaza Mall on Golf Course Road in Sector 53.
'The accused, including a woman from Thailand and another from Kenya, were booked under the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act and sent to judicial custody for 14 days,' said Inspector Ravinder Singh, spokesperson of Gurugram police.
On June 29, the police busted sex rackets operated in shopping malls and arrested 10 women aged between 20 and 25 and a man. In January, 14 women and four men were arrested on similar charges from DLF 2 area and another shopping mall.
