Adopt modern technology, LG directs Delhi Police

Calling for a greater focus on technology in policing, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal chaired a Law and Order meeting on Thursday at Raj Niwas.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Delhi Police and Delhi government, including Commissioner of Delhi Police; Transport Commissioner of Delhi government, Special CPs and Joint CPs of Delhi Police and officers of Raj Niwas.
The LG was informed by Delhi Police about the various modes of technology currently under operation and the roadmap for adoption of various technologies in policing in the near future.
Baijal was also informed that the role of the Chief Technical Officer (CTO) shall be vital in assessing the futuristic needs of technology at par with the technologies available world over in the said arena.
Baijal was additionally informed that latest technologies such as facial recognition, OSINT, E1-2S, PDA and security operation centres shall also be integrated in the future and proper assessment in this regard is also being made simultaneously.
Delhi Police further informed the LG that for capacity building of Delhi Police, the organisation has planned to facilitate online learning for all of its personnel through an e-academy, with various modules such as Law and Order, Security, Police Station Records and Maintenance, cyber courses, online tests etc.
The LG advised Delhi Police to execute the plan expeditiously.
