Ad-hoc teachers continue protest
New Delhi: Delhi University's ad-hoc teachers continued their protest on Wednesday, over regularisation of the posts, even after Ministry of Human Rights Development (MHRD) agreed to some of the urgent demands of the DU Teachers Association (DUTA).
"The HRD has taken back the August 28 circular and have extended the contract for ad-hoc teachers till May," DU professor Hansraj Mehta told Millennium Post.
The MHRD has also agreed to the demand of considering past services in all pending cases of promotions as per the 2018 Career Advancement Scheme.
However, the demands for absorption and the counting of total years of service for promotions have not been conceded to by the MHRD.
On Monday, thousands of ad-hoc teachers held a march to demand that they be given perwmanent posts.
"We will continue the strike till all pur demands are met. Meanwhile, meetings on next course of action have been taking place," said DUTA president Rajib Dutta.
Meanwhile, Mehta said that a meeting is supposed to take place on December 13, where the final decision whether the protest will continue or not will take place.
