Accident-prone Golf Course Road remains a risk in Ggn

Gurugram: The Delhi–Jaipur highway may be leading the count in terms of deadly accidents. However, Gurugram's Golf Course road is not far behind. Overspeeding vehicles, dangerous turns are among the factors that lead to fatal accident on the road.
Complaints of bikers using Gurugram's signal free roads to perform dangerous stunts and night racing are also on the rise.
Residents and officer-goers, who use Gold Course road daily, complain that lack of action by authorities might soon cause a major tragedy.
Grievances are also being reported of how brazenly violate traffic rules, even during peak traffic hours.
Shortage of facilities, such as foot over bridges and footpaths also increase the risk for pedestrians.
Even as plans are being executed to widen the city's roads, a large number of people have complain that authorities are not allotting enough space for city cyclists.
Golf Course road was recently upgraded, but it is yet to get dedicated tracks for cyclists and better facilities for the pedestrians.

Voices over this issue have, however, found resonance after air pollution in the city spiralled to hazardous levels, owing to a large number of vehicles on the roads.
Moreover, commuters continue to grapple with massive traffic jams, even in the recently reconditioned roads.

The civil society must continue to raise its voice with regards to development of facilities for cyclists and pedestrians," said Sarita Bhargava, a Gurugram resident
