Abandoned newborn girl rescued

New Delhi: A newborn baby girl found lying on the streets of outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area was rescued, after a passerby found animals roaming around her and immediately called the cops. The baby girl is receiving treatment in hospital.

Police said that she had injury marks and suspect that they might have been caused by some animals, like pigs, trying to eat her.

Sources claimed that the girl was found early morning on August 29, after a person saw her lying on the road and immediately alerted police were about the incident.

Meanwhile, the city police are making all possible efforts to trace the girl's parents as well as the person who left her on the road in a precarious situation.

CCTV footage of the area is also being scanned and residents in the area being questioned about the incident.

"Animals were there on the spot when we reached the girl and she had injuries on her body. The newly-born child was lying without clothes when we found her. We got rid of the animals and took the girl to the hospital," said the police officer.

Police said after a few days of treatment, the little girl is recovering well, but she will remain in the hospital for a few more days she rcovers completely.

Harendra Singh, SHO, Aman Vihar police station, is personally monitoring the girl's recovery. "There is no trace of her parents so far and after she is all right, we will contact the Child Welfare Committee," said another police officer.

This is not the first time that such an incident has been reported in the national Capital. In April, a three-month-old baby who was found near the tracks of Anand Vihar Railway station. In some cases, foetuses have been found abandoned on roadsides, with one such case reported in Sangam Vihar.
