AAP protests against Punjab, Hry govts over stubble burning
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday protested in front of Haryana and Punjab Bhawan against the continuous increase in incidents of stubble burning in the neighbouring states. The AAP also raised the issue of the silence of both the
neighbouring state governments and the centre on the issue of the stubble burning. The protest was attended
by party MLAs and councillors, and headed by AAP Delhi convenor Gopal Rai.
Gopal Rai during the program said, "The situation was normal in Delhi till a few days ago. While there were reports of increasing pollution in all the states across the country continuously, in Delhi, contrary to this, positive steps taken by the AAP government showed a 25 per cent reduction in pollution. But as soon as stubble burning started in the states of Haryana Punjab, pollution levels in Delhi started to spike."
He also said that due to the stubble burning the air quality of Delhi suddenly became severe and this also proves that stubble burning is a major factor of increasing pollution.
Rai said, "Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal himself appealed to the Central Government and the State Governments of Punjab Haryana to curb the
incidents of stubble burning in the states through the
media so that the health of the people of Delhi does not get affected."
