AAP MLAs distribute food packets to poor people facing crisis due to lockdown
New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs distributed food to the poor people, who are affected by the lockdown, in their respective areas. The MLAs submitted lists of locations where new night shelters and food distribution centres can be started.
The lockdown has severely affected the lives of poor people, daily wagers and labourers. Based on the input from the MLAs, the Delhi government has now established new shelters and food distribution centres.
AAP MLA Naresh Baliyan from Uttam Nagar distributed dry food packets in their areas. He has distributed almost 10,000 packets of 5 kg flour and 10,000 packets of 1 kg rice to the poor people in Uttam Nagar constituency.
To ensure no one stays hungry in the area, he has also set up 200 WhatsApp groups in Uttam Nagar Assembly consisting of social organisations and NGOs to facilitate the entire process.
Another AAP MLA Praveen Kumar from Jungpura said, "My team is feeding almost 5,000 people daily. We are distributing food in 18 police stations areas, 2,000 packets twice a day. Apart from this, we have identified several locations where we are distributing food through our volunteer teams. Our team is also involved in facilitating distribution of ration."
Kuldeep Kumar, MLA from Kondli said, "Many people who were leaving Delhi, have returned after listening to the appeal made by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. We have made adequate arrangements for their stay and food."
National Spokesperson and AAP MLA Raghav Chadha said, "At this tough time, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is making sure that no one stays hungry. Today, at Rajendar Nagar Legislative Assembly I have distributed free food at 8 places. We are ensuring social distancing while distributing food." "We are working round the clock to ensure sanitizers, food and water for the poor people of the area. There is no need to worry, we are all together working for the relief," said AAP MLA from Timarpur Dilip Pandey.
"The Delhi government is providing 1.5 times extra ration to the ration card holder residents of Delhi. Today I ensured that in my area all the ration cardholders get this benefit and the initiative was successful," said MLA from Burari Sanjeev Jha.
