'AAP has failed to open aam aadmi canteens'

Aam Aadmi Party congratulated the Delhi government for presenting a tax-free Budget for the third consecutive year, the highlights of which include series of pro-people measures and introduction of innovate features like the Outcome Budget.

"It is a matter of pride that the basic slogan of slashing electricity tariffs for domestic consumers by 50 percent for consumption of 400 units per month and providing 20,000 litres of water per household with metered connections, on which the AAP government was elected, it has been able to continue it for the third consecutive year, proving the critics completely wrong, said Dilip Pandey, AAP Convenor of Delhi unit.

However, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Wednesday slammed the AAP government over its alleged "failure" in opening the aam aadmi canteens in the city. These canteens were aimed at providing subsidised food in public places, hospitals. "It is highly regrettable that the aam aadmi canteens have not seen the light of the day during the last two years of AAP dispensation," Gupta said. Responding to Gupta's allegation, Health Minister Satyendar Jain said the Delhi government has recently opened one such canteen inside LNJP Hospital on a pilot basis.

Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesperson Sharmistha Mukherjee, reacting to the Budget said the Delhi government had failed to spend 20 percent of estimated planned expenditure showing its lack of interest in development. "According to the Economic Survey, Delhi's economic growth has slowed down for the first time in five years from 8.82 percent in 2015-16 to 8.26 percent in 2016-17. The revenue receipts have fallen short by Rs 4,468.93 crore than the estimate. The AAP government takes pride in allegedly doing 'great' work in the field of health and education. But in this Budget, the AAP government has stated that 10,000 new beds will be added this financial year. However, going by its dismal previous records, it seems this claim is nothing but a jumla," she said.
