AAP challenges BJP to give 200 units free electricity in states ruled by it

New Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Sanjay Singh wrote a letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar demanding an explanation about BJP's stand on withdrawal of free electricity scheme. He also asked if there are confidential agreements between the leaders of the BJP and the power companies. Singh said, "People of Delhi are confused after the statement from BJP that if they come to power the BJP will withdraw the scheme of giving 200 unit free electricity to the people. After the launch of the scheme lakhs of residents of Delhi were benefited by this. These people are looking for an answer from the BJP. After the launch of the scheme, many people got the benefit of the scheme and they have received zero electricity bills last month. The people are happy with the decision of the Delhi government to give them 200 unit free electricity because it is helping them to save money."

"I challenge the BJP to reduce electricity prices or give 200 units of free electricity in any state ruled by it," he added.

The senior AAP leader raised many questions through his letter and sought an explanation on BJP wanting to end the decision to provide up to 200 units of free electricity in Delhi and eliminating half price rebate of up to 400 units.

Singh asked, "Will the BJP end the relief which the common people of Delhi are getting, by increasing electricity prices in Delhi like other BJP ruled states? If not, then when will the electricity be free up to 200 units in BJP ruled states?" "When in every state like Maharashtra, Karnataka, Assam, Bihar, UP, Jharkhand, Tripura or Uttaranchal the electricity price is rising then the AAP government is giving free electricity and why is the BJP opposing that. When an MP can get 5,000 unit free electricity per month then why cannot a general

person of Delhi get 200 unit electricity in free of cost," he added.
