AAP appoints Mahesh Yadav as Ggn district head

Gurugram: There is a possibility that Assembly election in Haryana will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha election in May 2019. Not willing to be left out, AAP has also begun its preparations to make a mark in the upcoming election. With a strong presence in Gurugram, the new party has now begun preparations in the richest district of Haryana.

After announcing Naveen Jaihind as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate, AAP has appointed Mahesh Yadav as the district head of Gurugram. Yadav is a prominent Ahir leader and former village head of Chakkarpur. Yadav, who was believed to be close to the Gurugram MP Rao Inderjit Singh, fell out with him after being denied ticket for the recently-held municipal elections. His wife later contested as an independent candidate from ward-33 but lost. Yadav along with his followers joined AAP in April, this year.

In order to make his presence felt, posters of Yadav along with Jaihind are being put up across the city. "I will work hard towards the development of the city. I sincerely feel that AAP can prove to be an effective alternative in the politics of Haryana if given a chance," said Mahesh Yadav.

The party has a sizeable presence in Gurugram, thanks to its proximity to the national capital. Other important AAP leaders from the city are RS Rathee, who is an MCG councillor, and Nisha Singh.

Among the key issues that AAP wants to highlight include ensuring better sanitation and cleanliness, replenishing the groundwater table and improving the erratic power supply.
