More than a year after the February 9 event at Jawaharlal Nehru University, in which a group of protestors allegedly raised anti-national slogans, the Delhi Police are yet to file a charge-sheet in the case.
The police had made this statement after several media reports claimed that the charge-sheet was finalised and former JNU Student's Union president Kanhaiya Kumar was given a clean chit. Police have claimed that such reports were in the realm of speculation and that they are still investigating the case.
"These are mere speculations and we are yet to finalise the charge sheet as the case is still under investigation," said Delhi Police spokesperson, Dependra Pathak. When asked about the progress of the charge-sheet Pathak said: "It is a sensitive case, so we would request everyone not to speculate. As of now, there is no finality. Charge-sheet will be filed but not now".
The case is being investigated by the Special Cell, which deals with terror and heinous crimes.
